How to Care for your Coins by Use of Coin Albums
That way, not only are my coins kept safe, but my coin album are also free of any dust. (I **** cleaning of any kind, and avoid it where I can!) There is one thing though that you should look out for when you’re buying your display coin album.
If coin album are not of the variety which are made especially for coins, then if you’re going to be constantly taking them in and out of the coin album, you could still be leaving fine surface scratches on your coins.
This is known as coin album friction or coin albums slide marks. What happens is that as you slide the coin out of its display pockets, you’re unknowingly rubbing the coin against the protective covering thereby creating slide marks on the coin.
And if you do this often the marks can and will add up at some point in time to show significant wear and marks on your coin.
The way to avoid this is either to avoid temptation and keep your coin in the holder for as long as possible without taking it out, or to get yourself coin album which won’t create these friction marks on your coins.
