What do I store my coin collection holder in?
Sandra Asked:
I have no coin worth more than $25 and want to keep coin storage cheap. I don't consider myself an avid fan of the hobby. I have no mint or uncirculated coins. Levitra I have around 150 coins total so I can't go buy 100 quarter holders. I also need to know a safe website to find PVC-free holders. I want to pass this collection on to my kids with exception of some of the junk silver.
What kind of storage do I need and where online can I get it?
Reply:
The two most inexpensive options are commonly called 2x2's and flips, and you should be able to find them at a hobby shop or a local coin dealer. You might also want a box to coin collection holder in. If you are not interested in viewing the coins, you might consider hard plastic coin tubes. There are several websites to find them online. I hope that helps.

There are no albums that I know of for the hard plastic 2X2's made by harris or Whitman. There is a company called Eagle that has hard plastic cases and there own album. http://www.eaglecoinholders.com. Coin World the weekly coin magazine also has a hard plastic case and a special album. From them in order to get a discount you must get their magazine but they will sell to others but without a discount. http://www.coinworld.com or if a subscriber like I am I go to http://www.amosadvantage.com. Another place to try for there are new products all the time is http://www.brooklyngallery.com they are a large dealer in supplies for coins and stamps and have a huge inventory. Others to try are http://www.jpscorner.com they carry some of the coin world items. Hope this sets you on the right road.
Mmm.. You can taste the loneliness..
I used to be a bartender and people would give me coins from all over the world. The one that sticks out the most was a coin celebrating the 750th year anniversary of the city of Berlin. It was very special because the people that gave it to me had been robbed of almost everything they had brought with them on their vacation to the U.S., but the robbers hadn't found this particular coin. They came into the bar I worked in and I befriended them. They gave me the coin which unfortuneately was lost in Hurricane Katrina along with all my other coins. The coin may be gone but my memory of those two people will stay with me forever.

This is a private set made by some company and is not a U.S. mint item. The 1/2 dollars were taken from circulation so they could be circulated or they may have bought uncirculated rolls to use in making the set. Value depends on the grade of each 1/2 dollar for a coin dealer would break up the set and sell them separately. Advanced coin collector do not buy private made sets. You would need to see a coin dealer to have the coins graded. The 1964 is 90% silver and the 1965-1970-S are 40% silver. The set is also not complete, some for some of the mints are missing. Such as the 1990-P or 1992-D. It is not a full set. Items like this are hype and are not good investments.
There are really no key coins in that date range. If you feel the Franklin's are very high grade with full bell lines, then it may pay to send them in to be graded and slabbed. You can send them yourself to ANACS go to their web site for info. You must belong to PCGS or for NGC be a member of ANA. It may be best to see if a coin club is in your area and ask them for help. I am not sure what you have for they are a set not sold by the mint, but put out by a private company. All mint state coins should be already in holders but back then some were no very good for the coins. Best I can do here.
